The Nation Needs to Educate Manufacturing Workers Now

Almost everyone involved in manufacturing is acutely aware of a double threat looming just on the horizon that stands to undermine our future ability to sustain manufacturing for the future in America. While an amazing fifty percent or more of the nation's skilled manufacturing technicians will be eligible to retire in the next few years, very few young people are enrolling in the kinds of technical training and education programs that would allow them to fill the void.

By Michael Vasilik, Ph.D., Director, Electotechnology Applications Center

Dun & Bradstreet Building Sustainability with Training That Embeds a Winning Culture

With a presence in the Lehigh Valley for many years as one of the top 80 employers in the region, D&B has gone through a period of transformation over the last 6 years, guided by a strategic plan called the Blueprint for Growth. Sustainability: Surviving When Others Can't
By Don Robertson
Co-Director, Leadership Development Institute

Recently I heard a presentation by Jim Collins, the author of Good To Great. He had one point he especially wanted people to grasp and act on and I believe that point is one of the most important things that has been said in years. It is simple and straightforward; it carries minimal financial investment; but it calls for strong human commitment. I believe it is the secret to sustainability. Collins simply said, “Greatness is not a function of circumstances.  Greatness, it turns out, is largely a matter of conscious choice, and discipline.”
