Programming Courses

A+ PC Repair & Troubleshooting
Students learn about PC hardware and system maintenance procedures. Topics include a detailed look at hardware components, hardware installation, upgrading parts, PC maintenance, PC troubleshooting and portable computing. Students are provided hands-on opportunities to installing and troubleshooting hardware components. Course prepares A+ certification candidates for the CompTIA A+ hardware exam 220-221.

A+ PC Operating Systems
Covers a wide range of material about operating systems, from using the different Windows operating systems to demonstrating how the boot process works, as well as installing, supporting, and troubleshooting the different Windows operating systems. Takes a hands-on approach to learning the steps to installing, troubleshooting and supporting the most common operating systems in use on the personal computer. Course uses a multitude of real world examples of problems and issues related to operating systems, making it a practical preparation for the real world. Prepares A+ certification candidates for the CompTIA A+ operating system exam 220-222. Prerequisite: PC Repair and Troubleshooting. CEUs: 3.5

In this course you will define and identify origins, benefits, drawbacks, and uses of the Linux operating system. You will log in, enter commands, shut down and restart your Linux workstation, create and configure users and groups, and manage the file system. You will use Linux text editors and redirection to create and modify files. You will then archive files with tar, cpio, and other commands, work in the X Window environment, manage print services, and add and update packages through package management utilities. CEUs 3.5

Wireless Networks (new course)
Wireless networking is the biggest thing to happen to computing since the PC was introduced. Wireless means no wires, so there is no need to drill, hammer, or fish wires through walls. Online Home Inspection Course (new format)
Provides an introduction to home inspection typically required for real estate transactions. Covers identification of material defects in the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and structural systems of a residential dwelling. Also covers inspection forms and procedure communication. The course concepts are delivered in an online (web-based) format moderated by the instructor. The class also conducts multiple mock inspections at actual homes.
