(Continued from Front Page) The 2005-2006 program year is following suit, with $20,000,000 budgeted for training Pennsylvania 's workforce. First round allocation requests far exceeded this amount, with over $63,000,000 requested by employers, a 3:1 ratio.
As an active WEDnet partner, Northampton Community College will serve 43 different companies in the Lehigh Valley in the 2005-2006 program year, administering 73 GFT contracts exceeding $800,000 for training. “We at NCC specialize in helping employers access funding to support their training efforts,” says Michele Pappalardo, director of Business Resources. “Whether it's WEDnetPa, Customized Job Training, online distance training programs, or others, we are a recognized and active partner in distributing state resources for those employers who can really benefit.”
Funded by the Department of Community and Economic Development, the program offers qualified employers up to $450.00 per employee for basic training and up to $700 per employee for IT and computer-related training.
