(Continued from Front Page) As president and chief operating officer at Just Born, Inc., Mr. Torrence is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to the executive team to achieve results consistent with the company's strategic plan, vision and culture. He began his career with General Motors Corporation; left GM to become a vice president at Bridgestone USA and later served as vice president of human resources and total quality management for Bridgestone/Firestone, Inc. Before joining Just Born, Torrence was executive vice president of Mack Trucks, Inc, Allentown . He currently serves on the board of the national Points of Light Foundation, Washington , D.C.
The Executive-in-Residence program was established at Northampton Community College in 1985 to give business students the opportunity to spend time with and learn from the area's most successful business leaders. In addition to delivering a public address, the executive spends a full day on campus, meeting informally with students in classes and over meals. The program is made possible by an endowment established by Cecile and Jack Shaffer in memory of their son Hal. Previous Executives-in-Residence have included:
