Welding Testing Courses

This series of four non-credit welding inspection courses is designed to update the skill set of welding inspectors (CWI, SCWI) and to prepare candidates for the American Society for Nondestructive Testing Level I & II exams.  The series of courses are also ideal for NDT technicians, welding engineers, and quality control and assurance personnel exposed to nondestructive testing.  Course instruction is hands-on with an emphasis on problem solving techniques instead of rote lecture.

Visual Testing
Levels 1 & 2  VTSI7059-01

A complete review and analysis of visual inspection including procedures, relevant codes of practice, terms and definitions; welding processes and typical welding defects; weld measurement; typical documentation and requirements; practical inspection and test report preparation. 9/8/04-10/4/04

Magnetic Particle
Levels 1 & 2  VTSI7060-01

A complete review and analysis of the basic theory of magnetic particle inspection and how magnetic fields are used in testing.  Course includesuse of visible and fluorescent test procedures, equipment operation, interpretation of indicators, terms and definitions, inspection techniques, performance of inspections and test report preparation. 10/6/04-10/27/04

Liquid Penetrant
Levels 1 & 2  VTSI7061-01

A complete review and analysis of liquid penetration inspection. Course includes basic theory application, color contrast and fluorescent test report preparation. 11/1/04-11/10/04

Radiographic Interpretation
Levels 1 & 2  VTSI7062-01

A complete review and analysis of radiographic interpretation including methods and materials used for inspection, correct assessment of radiographs, development of interpretation techniques and test reportpreparation.  11/15/04-12/8/04
